The makers of Rajinikanth’s 2.0 (also known as Enthiran 2) have revealed its release date. The Shankar-directed movie is set to hit the screens across the globe during Diwali season of 2017.
Rajini’s 2.0 is the most-talked about and highly-anticipated movie and his fans are desperately waiting for its release. Speculations about its release date have been doing rounds in the media ever since Shankar announced this project. But the makers had kept mum on the rumours.
The first look launch is one of its kind as the looks of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar will be launched in 3D by Lyca Productions. The event hosted by Karan Johar would also see popular stars Kamal Hassan and Shah Rukh Khan sharing the stage with Rajini and Akshay. Huge LCD screens have been put in place to set the tone of the mega launch.
Meanwhile, fans of Rajini have lined up outside Yashraj Films to welcome him for the event. The superstar arrived at YRF in a white Porsche and staying true to himself, he stepped out wearing a simple white Kurta. Soon enough Akshay arrived followed by leading lady Amy Jackson in their respective cars. Salman Khan has come for the launch, he said he was not invited but he came because he knew Rajini is here for the launch.
“I just wanted to see Rajinikanth. Most amazing man. I have a lot of respect for him. I wasn’t invited. I got to know the was launch here. So came here. Akshay Kumar is the only actor who has had growth in our industry. Rest of us are stagnant,” said Salman Khan.
Amy Jackson who is working with Rajinikanth for the first time was euphoric for being a part of this project. “I had no idea that I would be a part of this film with these legends. I was intimidated initially but on sets, everyone was like my family,” she said.
Akshay Kumar is confident that 2.0 would be a blockbuster success at the box office and will create several records. “I believe in 2.0 subject. I believe this movie is going to create history,” Akki said in his address at the first look launch function.
2.0 is an upcoming Indian science fiction film written and directed by S. Shankar, co-written by B. Jeyamohan and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah, founder of London-based Lyca Productions. A spiritual successor to the 2010 Tamil film Enthiran, the film will feature Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. The soundtrack album will be composed by A. R. Rahman while cinematography, editing and production design are handled by Nirav Shah, Anthony and T. Muthuraj respectively. The film will be released in three languages: Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. With an estimated budget of ₹ 350 crore (3.5 billion), it’s the most expensive Indian film till date.
