Poll schedule for Bihar assembly elections to be announced today

The Election Commission is all set to announce the poll schedule for Bihar assembly elections today. The announcement pertaining to the Bihar assembly elections will be made today by the Election Commission.  The elections will begin in mid October and continue till November in multiple phases. When the elections were held last time in 2010, they were held in 6 phases and prolonged for 30 days and the results were announced 4 days later. Perhaps the same poll schedule could be followed this time as well. However it is tricky for the EC decide on the poll schedule due to the festive months of October and November during which  Dussehra, Lakshmi Puja, Kali Puja, Diwali, and Chatt fall.

Once the announcement for the poll schedule will be made, model code of conduct will be immediately be in effect that includes no official announcements, which may have a bearing on influencing voters mind, can be made till the elections are over. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had four major ‘parivartan’ rallies in Bihar. He also had two official outings in Patna and Ara, where he announced a number of central schemes for development of Bihar, including a special package of Rs 1.65 lakh crore.
