Canadian government has returned a 900 year old ‘Parrot Lady’ sculpture from Khajuraho to Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi. Now the sculpture will get ready to be placed at the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The sculpture is made up of sandstone and has been seized by a Canadian a few years ago and handed over to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He has handed it to Modi during his official visit to Canada in April this year. The sculpture, according to ASI sources, must have been taken away from one of the unprotected monuments in the Khajuraho region of Madhya Pradesh. However there was no one to claim the monument and no police complaint has been lodged about the sculpture going missing. An official said that the antique piece is in the possession of ASI’s Central Antiquity Collection at Purana Qila in New Delhi.
