Actress Samantha Akkineni will star in the Tamil and Telugu remakes of Kannada mystery thriller film “U-Turn”, which was remade in Malayalam in 2017.
The original Kannada film featured Shraddha Srinath, Radhika Chetan, Dileep Raj and Roger Narayan, and was directed by Pawan Kumar.
Samantha wrote on the wall of Twitter, “2018 Everything I want !! Shoot begins in Feb for @pawanfilms #Uturn #Tamil and #Telugu , produced by Srinivasaa silver screen. Thankyou always for your support.”
Now the latest update, director Pawan Kumar revealed that Aadhi Pinisetty has been roped in the film and he will essay the cop’s role. Incidentally, both Aadhi Pinisetty and Samantha will also be seen in Sukumar’s Rangasthalam 1985 in which Ram Charan is playing the lead role.
Talking to Times of India, Pawan Kumar, who will helm the project said: “Aadi will be essaying the cop’s role and Rahul will play Samantha’s boyfriend in the film. We are talking to a few more actresses for another role. We will confirm the same in a few days’ time.”
n early 2017, Samantha watched the film in a private screening in Bengaluru and she immediately expressed her interest to be part of its remake in Tamil and Telugu. However, the project didn’t materialise in the following months and rumours made the rounds that Samantha was replaced by Nithya Menen. A few months later, there were reports that Nayanthara might be part of the project.
The film revolves around the death of motorists who break a traffic rule at a particular flyover in Bangaluru and subsequent pinning down of the culprit by an intern journalist and police inspector duo.
He told Deccan Chronicle, “The regular shooting will commence from January next year. The pre-production work is currently underway. Since Samantha is part of the project, we’re planning to make it big,” he said.
