Martin, 67, confirmed the news on his blog Saturday, October 10.

Martin announced the news on his blog, describing The Skin Trade as a ‘werewolf noir’ piece. He wrote: ‘The deal is closed, and Cinemax has ordered the pilot script. This being Hollywood, of course, you never know where things will end… but if they like the script, we’ll shoot a pilot, and if they like that, hey, who knows, maybe we’ll get a series on the air.’

In his post, Martin recounts the book’s history, writing that it was originally penned for horror anthology installment “Dark Vision 5,” which also included contributions from Dan Simmons and Stephen King. “Skin Trade” would go on to win the World Fantasy Award, and was later reprinted several times after.
