Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan wowed the audience with their chemistry in Shoojit Sircar’s hit 2015 film Piku, So, there is a lot of excitement around the duo’s second on-screen outing in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming directorial.

Director Vishal Bhardwaj has taken the charge of directing Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone in his next project, which was earlier supposed to be helmed by Honey Trehan.

Bhardwaj said in a statement: “Due to different artistic visions of the film, Honey (Trehan) and I jointly came to the decision that it would be best if I took over as director and saw it through to the end.”

Vishal Bhardwaj said, “I had written the script a couple of years back and now I am directing it. I am totally looking forward to working with Deepika (Padukone). I have loved the work she has done and she is so beautiful. The camera loves her. And with Irrfan (Khan), I am doing a full feature film after a very long time. After Maqbool, I have worked with him briefly in Saat Khoon Maaf and Haider. So, I am really excited that I am getting an opportunity to work with Irrfan in full-fledged film.”

Prernaa Arora said she respects the decision, which is only meant for the “betterment of the film”.

Trehan will direct another project in the near future, and it will also be produced by Vishal Bhardwaj.

The untitled Irrfan-Deepika starrer will be produced by KriArj Entertainment and Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures.

“The film was always big, I respect the decision what Vishal Sir and Honey (Trehan) have taken together, we all are big family together. Its a great collaboration, it’s a decision that Vishal Sir have taken for the betterment of the film and all of us,” Prerna Arora of KriArj Entertainment said.

For now, the shoot of the Irrfan and Deepika movie will begin end of February.
