The Ring is an upcoming Indian romantic drama film written and directed by Imtiaz Ali. It features Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, and Evelyn Sharma in the lead roles. This film marks the third collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012).
Pre-production of the film had begun in April 2015 and principal photography commenced in August 2016 at Prague, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Budapest. The film is scheduled to release on 11 August 2017.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the distribution rights of SRK and Imtiaz’s first untitled project together has been sold for a whopping amount of more than Rs 100 crore. Narendra Hirawat of NH Studioz has acquired the domestic and overseas distribution rights of the upcoming project reportedly. The report suggests that the deal is finalised at approximately Rs 125 crore.
“Yes I have acquired the All India and overseas distribution rights of The Ring, but I will not comment on the cost of the same,” the report quoted Hirawat as saying.
Imtiaz Ali has tried to tap the modern-day relationships and portrays contemporary romance on the big screen. But now the Jab We Met director do not want to stick to a certain kind of movie-making and feels even the Fan actor wanted to come out and try something new. “For me, I didn’t want to fall into a pattern of the certain type of film. And he (Shah Rukh) wanted to break out of the pattern that he was in. That’s the reason why we got to work,” said Imtiaz.
The film will hit the theatres in August this year. Its poster was revealed a few months ago by none other than Salman Khan with the tweet, “@iamsrk ki film aa Rahi hai . Date Maine decide kar di hai . Title tum log decide kardo . Best of luck @AnushkaSharma #ImtiazAli,”Salman tweeted.”
