The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to give ‘sister province‘ status to Toyama state in Japan to develop bilateral trade and cultural relations.
Toyama province shares similar features with Andhra Pradesh. Agriculture and aquaculture are prime economic activities in both the states. They also share features like port-based trade and booming pharma industry.
During his recent visit to Japan, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu held a series of discussions with the Toyama administration and sought its cooperation in evolving a development strategy for AP. He also received many favourable investment proposals from industrialists of Toyama prefecture.
We will give final touches to the proposed MoU between AP and Toyama soon. The MoU will be signed in the presence of the prime ministers of both the countries in New Delhi later this year,” PV Ramesh told TOI.
The AP delegation will meet Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to hand over the invitation for the foundation stone-laying ceremony for Amaravati on October 22.
