Over 1.45 lakh people were affected by floods in over 300 villages across Assam and 15 causalities were reported. However the flood incidence has shown signs of improvement on Wednesday. Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) claimed that over 1.45 lakh people were affected till now, in 317 villages across Dhemaji, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Sonitpur, Barpeta, Goalpara, Morigaon, Dhubri, Golaghat, Udalguri and Cachar districts.
The reports till Tuesday showed that nearly 2.6 lakh people were hit by the flood in over 500 villages across 11 districts. Goalpara district was the most effected with over 63,000 people being hit by the floods followed by Morigaon with more than 33,000 people hit till date. More than 15,000 hectares of crops are under water at present as per the reports from ASDMA. At present, Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger mark at Neamatighat in Jorhat district and Dhubri town.
