Not many have heard about Satish Kasetty, the maker who won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues for his 2006 film Hope, which starred Kalyani, late D Ramanaidu, and Vizag Prasad. It had music by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja. His 2009 film Kalavaramaye Madilo, starring Colours Swathi and Vikram Gokhale, won a Nandi Award.His third film, Terror, starring Srikanth and Nasser, is going to hit the screens on Feb 26.
Ahead of the film’s release, the thinking director has hit out at the step motherly treatment of the industry towards less known entities like him even when they win prestigious awards. Saying that individuals winning a National Award, like he has, are not celebrated, he added that, in fact, such filmmakers are branded as “award-winning directors” and thereupon treated like “untouchables.” Importantly, he has also said that this is not the case when a big star’s film wins a prestigious award.
