Baahubali 2: The Conclusion Movie Review

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is an upcoming Indian epic historical fiction film directed by S. S. Rajamouli. It is the continuation of Baahubali: The Beginning. Initially, both parts were jointly produced on a budget of ₹ 250 crore (2.5 billion), however the budget of the second part was increased later. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has made a business of ₹500 crore(5 billion) before release. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 28 April 2017. Baahubali 2 will be the first Telugu film to be released in 4K High Definition format. It is estimated that close to 200 screens are being upgraded to 4K projectors before the release date of the movie.

Prabhas was cast as main lead of the film. Anushka Shetty was cast as the heroine of the film as she was also a part of Mirchi (2013). She coincidentally became the first heroine Rajamouli repeated in his films and thus made her schedules full for 2013 and 2014. Rana Daggubati was recruited as the antagonist of the film and coincidentally he was also a part of Rudhramadevi. Sathyaraj signed the film.

In April 2013, Adivi Sesh was cast for a crucial role in the film as Rajamouli was impressed by his work in the Panjaa (2011). Actress Ramya Krishnan was chosen to play the crucial role in the film as Rajamatha in August 2013. Actor Nassar was selected to play a supporting role. Charandeep was selected to play the brother of the film’s chief villain. On 20 December 2013 a press release stated that Tamannaah will be second heroine of the film which marks her first collaboration with Rajamouli and second collaboration with Prabhas. Meka Ramakrishna was picked for the head of the Kuntala guerillas.

“Baahubali 2” Movie Story Line:

The movie is a sequel to 2015 release ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ and answers the infamous question of the year, ‘Why Katappa Kileld Baahubali?’. In Baahubali 2, Shiva, the son of Baahubali, begins to search for answers after he learns about his heritage.

As shown in the first part, Baahubali(Prabhas)is declared as the king of Mahishmati. As part of the kingdom’s ancestral ritual, the would-be king needs to visit the countryside to know what problems the people in his kingdom are facing. In this process, Baahubali visits a small kingdom called Kuntala and falls in love with its princess Devasena (Anushka).

Baahubali 2 Movie Review  He woos Devasena with his charm and brings her to Mahishmati. But to his shock, Baahubali’s mother, Shivagami(Ramya Krishna) changes her decision suddenly and announces Bhallaladeva(Rana) as the king. Why did Shivagami suddenly announce Bhallaladeva as the king? What is the back story behind her decision? The reasons of her to do so and why Kattappa killed his king Baahubali forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

There are way too many things that impress you in Baahubali 2 but it is practically impossible to pen all of them down in this review. Let me start by talking about the gigantic scale of the film. It is like a never before and never again kind of scenario as Baahubali 2 is huge in every aspect. Every visual of the film is filled with surprises either in terms of graphics or the extravagant sets that have been put up. The costumes, drama showcased and performances are a first of its kind in Telugu films.

Prabhas-Anushka chemistry
Rana Daggubati
Actor’s performances
Grand visuals
Story
VFX
Music by MM Keeravani
Screenplay

Minus Points:

A number of audiences might get disappointed with the way Rajamouli has answered why Katappa killed Baahubali. Even though, the twist gels well with the script, it might not meet the expectations of many. Once the twist is revealed, the film becomes a bit predictable. The climax looks a bit rushed upon as things happen way too quickly.

Slightly Predictable second half
Certain unrealistic fight scenes
