The film was released worldwide on 28 April 2017. Baahubali 2 was the first Telugu film to be released in 4K High Definition format. It is estimated that close to 200 screens are being upgraded to 4K projectors before the release date of the movie.
Baahubali 2 became the first Indian film to get a worldwide gross of more than ₹500 crore (₹5 billion) in all languages in just three days. Baahubali 2 became the highest grossing Indian film ever with worldwide gross of approx ₹900 crore (₹9 billion) in all languages in just seven days, surpassing PK worldwide gross of ₹792 crore. On the 9th day, Baahubali 2 became the first Indian film ever to collect ₹1000 crore.
The film collected Rs 40.75 crore on its release day, followed with a Rs 40.25 crore on Saturday (day two), Rs 46.50 crore on Sunday (day 3) and Rs 39 crore on Monday (day four). The S.S.Rajamouli’s magnum opus minted Rs 245 crore in its first week. The film collected Rs 20 crore and Rs 26.50 on its second Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The film had a grand release on April 28 across the world in about 9000 screens. According to sources the makers of ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ are planning a wide international release. It is heard that the Japanese and Chinese dubbed versions of the film will be released later this summer.
Actor Prabhas, who became a household name in Bollywood with the Baahubali franchise, will be seen next in ‘Saaho’, which is being simultaneously shot in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. UV Creations’ ‘Saaho’, produced by Vamsi and Pramod, is currently being shot at picturesque locations in the country and abroad.
