A local court in Meerut on Wednesday registered a case against a BJP MLA from Rajasthan for calling Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi a “traitor”.
Kailash Chaudhary, the MLA, had during a ‘kisan sammelan’ in Rajasthan a few days ago said Gandhi was a “traitor” for his stand on the JNU row. The case was filed by a Congress worker, Rikin Ahluwalia, under Section 210 of CrPc “I was shocked after seeing the speech of Kailash Chaudhary. I immediately went to the Lalkurti police station to file a case against him but they refused to lodge an FIR.
Chaudhary, had, as per some reports, said while addressing a farmer’s gathering on February 17 that, “Some people (in JNU) were found to be raising slogans in support of Afzal Guru and if Rahul Gandhi sides with these people, he is a traitor and such traitors should be hanged and shot.”
