Senior telugu comedian Gundu Hanumantharao passed away at his residence in SR Nagar in the wee hours of Monday at the age of 61. Gundu Hanumantharao was 61 and he was suffering from kidney related ailments since a long time.
The actor was also facing a financial crisis, following which the state government and actor Chiranjeevi came forward to help with his treatment expenses.
The Telugu film fraternity and the Movie Artistes Association have expressed their condolences at the untimely death of Hanumantha Rao.
Gundu Hanumantharao was born in Vijayawada on October 10, 1956. He made his acting debut on stage at the age of 18 years. He later debuted in Tollywood and acted in more than 400 films.
Gundu Hanumantha Rao was a Telugu actor. Some of the famous movies in which he appeared are Pellaniki Premalekha Priyuraliki Subhalekha in 1992, Rajendradu Gajendradu, Mayaloodu, Jodi No.1, Nenu Seetamahalakshmi, Kedi No.1, Apparao Driving School, Kalyanam, Original, Neramu Siksha, High School, Kothoka Vintha, Colors, Panchamukhi, Sri Sai Sankalpam, Mano Balam and the TV serial Amrutham. He first appeared in Jandhyala’s film Aha Naa Pellanta in 1987 and gained popularity in comedian roles in SV Krishna Reddy’s films. He got 3 TV Nandi Awards from Andhra Pradesh Government.
In 2014, Gundu Hanumantha Rao joined Chitti Babu Punyamurthula and Pinki at rallies in support of the Telugu Desam Party.
