Since quite a lot time there were speculations about which actor will be paired opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in ‘Fanney Khan’. The name that did rounds was of the charming actor, R Madhavan. Fans went berserk on knowing about him but there was confirmation about it. The makers have finally confirmed that Rajkummar Rao has been roped in opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in ‘Fanney Khan’ and now the movie buffs just can’t keep calm. This is the first time that Ash and Rajkummar Rao will be sharing screen space.
“It was finalised yesterday. I can’t tell you much about the role but I will start preparing for it when I am back in India in September, but yes, it’s a romantic angle” says Rajkummar, who is currently shooting in Poland for his film Bose.
However, he refused to divulge further into the film’s details and about his character.
Fanney Khan is likely to revolve around a 17-year-old aspiring singer, whose career takes off once her unemployed father (supposedly played by Anil Kapoor) kidnaps the top singer (Aishwarya Rai) of the country. The original film, Dominique Deruddere’s 2000 Dutch film Everybody’s Famous, was nominated the Best Foreign Film Award at the 73rd Academy Awards.
The film will see Kapoor and Rai work together after a gap of 17 years. They were last seen in Satish Kaushik’s 2000 drama Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai. It will be helmed by debutant director Atul Manjrekar and backed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra along with KriArj Entertainment.
Fanney Khan will go on floors in a few days in September 2017 and is slated to hit theatres in April 2018.
It’s been a while since the speculation about Aishwarya’s romantic interest in Fanney Khan has kept her fans excited. Earlier there were reports that she would recreate Taal magic with Anil Kapoor after a gap of 18 years. However, it was later revealed that she won’t romance Anil in the film.
Fanney Khan is an upcoming Indian 2017 Bollywood musical comedy film, directed by Atul Manjrekar and produced by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, KriArj Entertainment and T-Series. The film is the official remake of the Oscar nominated Dutch 2000 film Everybody’s Famous!.
