After ruling the box office with her recent release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone has generated much hype around her next project with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, the movie also stars Irrfan Khan.
Deepika Padukone has started the prep for getting into the skin of her character that is based on Sapna Didi aka Rahima Khan (the notorious Mafia Queen from the 80’s).
“So amusing to find out that everyone except me knows the title of my upcoming film! This is absolutely false news, the movie is not titled ‘Rani’ and it is not based on Sapna Didi’s life,” he tweeted.
Deepika has started her preparation for the role and the daily quoted a source as saying, “Deepika has already started the preparation for her role of a mafia queen and she is quite particular that she gets the tonality and body language as close to the late Sapna Didi who was once a terror for other gangsters. The shoot will begin by early March in Mumbai. After Padmaavat, her fans will love to see her in a whole new avatar of a lady don and hence she is really working meticulously to strike the right chord.”
Bhardwaj said in a statement: “Due to different artistic visions of the film, Honey (Trehan) and I jointly came to the decision that it would be best if I took over as director and saw it through to the end.”
Trehan, who has worked closely with Bhardwaj over the years, was to make his directorial debut with the film.
He said: “Owing to our differences in creative understanding, we have mutually and amicably decided that it would be best for our film if Vishal sir took over as director.”
Prernaa Arora said she respects the decision, which is only meant for the “betterment of the film”.
Trehan will direct another project in the near future, and it will also be produced by Vishal Bhardwaj.
The untitled Irrfan-Deepika starrer will be produced by KriArj Entertainment and Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures.
“The film was always big, I respect the decision what Vishal Sir and Honey (Trehan) have taken together, we all are big family together. Its a great collaboration, it’s a decision that Vishal Sir have taken for the betterment of the film and all of us,” Prerna Arora of KriArj Entertainment said.
For now, the shoot of the Irrfan and Deepika movie will begin end of February.
