Producer Dil Raju’s Mr Perfect starring Prabhas, Taapsee Pannu and Kajal Aggarwal, has landed in legal troubles, six years after its release. The makers of the movie have been booked for alleged plagiarism.
The Madhapur police booked a case against noted producer and distributor Dil Raju for allegedly copying the plot of a Telugu novel and making the hit movie ‘Mr.Perfect’, starring Young Rebel star Prabhas.
According to the police report, Ms Shyamala Rani, the writer of ‘Naa Manasu Korindi Ninne’, a Telugu novel, filed a petition in court alleging that Tollywood film maker Dil Raju had copied the story and made the film in 2011. The movie Mr. Perfect was released in 2011 whereas her novel was published in 2010. According to her, the makers of the movie, copied her story without taking her permission and made a movie on it. In this way they have cheated her. The court took up her petition and directed the Madhapur police to book a case and initiate a probe. The case has been registered against Dil Raju and four others under Copy Right Act.
Rani filed a case against Dil Raju, director of the movie K Dasarath, dialogue writer Abburi Ravi and co producers Sirish and Lakshman at Miyapur court accusing them of cheating.
Rani, speaking to media, said that she tried hard to sell her story to filmmakers but nothing came of it. Then, in 2013, while watching Mr Perfect on television, she realised that many of the scenes depicted and dialogues were very similar to her novel.
“While I was watching Mr Perfect in 2013 on television, I found several dialogues and scenes were copied from my novel,” she told the Times of India.
The police say that further action will be taken based on his reply. “Following court’s order, we booked a cheating case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Copy Rights Act and are investigating,” Madhapur police Inspector R Kalinga Rao as saying.
