Vin Diesel has confirmed via social media that the first trailer for Fast and Furious 8 will be released on December 11, 2016.
Fast 8 hits theaters on April 14, 2017. The sequel sees a change in directors. Helming this time around is F. Gary Gray, who replaces acclaimed director James Wan. Gray is best known for his directorial work on films such as Straight Outta Compton, Law Abiding Citizen, and the Mark Wahlberg-starring remake of The Italian Job.
Diesel is likely referring to August’s online outburst made by fellow Fast crew member Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Using Facebook, Johnson went on a rant that included expletives to describe the performance of some co-stars.
Whether this “tension” is legitimate or simply a publicity stunt to shine some light on a tired franchise, we’ll probably never know. Nevertheless, fans of which there appear to be many, judging by ticket sales of previous installments have more than just the holidays to look forward to this December.
