Coming from a family that has huge filmy background, it wasn’t easy to take a decision on entering films for Konidela Niharika. She had to explain not only her family, but also for the fans who are very personal to their family. But she took a decision and stood by it. There was a time when a group of fans met her father Nagababu in Chiranjeevi Blood Bank and opposed her decision to become heroine. They didn’t calm down till he called Niharika and she explained what are her priorities. ‘I know how women especially heroines are perceived in film industry but my focus is on acting oriented roles. I am not interested in doing glam roles’ she clarified.

I have to prove myself as an actress. If the film is not good, no one including me will watch. If my brother’s (Varun Tej) film is not good, I wouldn’t watch it more than once. So for any actor the family tag helps only a certain bit. We have to prove ourselves ultimately.’

‘My father, mother and even pedananna (Chiranjeevi) even my cousins supported my decision a lot and stood by me. So I can never let them down. I want to do some good roles and possibly earn more pride to family’, she concluded.

Her debut film ‘Oka Manasu’ is releasing on 24th June. She is being paired against Naga Shourya. This Rama Raju directorial is being produced by Madhura Sridhar under Madhura Arta Creations.
