Mullapudi Vara. He is not famous in Film Industry but his last name is worshiped among book lovers and Telugu literature fans. His father Mullapudi Ramana gifted him that pride with his amazing work in both films and books. Ramana’s association with Sattiraju Lakshmi Narayana (better known as Bapu garu) who is an illustrator, cartoonist and film maker added more weight to his introduction everywhere. ‘Bapu-Ramana’s reference before my name is a blessing and curse at the same time’, says Mullapudi Vara. As his forth directorial ‘Kundanapu Bomma’ is releasing in theaters on 24th June, he talked about the film, his association with Bapu-Ramana and Bapu’s contribution towards his film.

Vara said that he shared a special bond with Bapu garu too. After all, he married Bapu’s niece and made transformed the legendry friendship into family. He said he did narrate the story of ‘Kundanapu Bomma’ to Bapu garu. ‘While filming Gorantha Deepam, they’ve recorded some Ghazals for both Sreedhar and Mohan Babu’s characters. But due to the duration problems, they haven’t used Mohan Babu’s parts while filming. But those records are still there in our house. I used to listen to them very often. One day I asked him if he remembered those lines. Surprisingly he did sing the whole Ghazal and said he does. That day took his permission to use those songs in my film. He happily agreed.

I should also thank M M Keeravani for being very kind hearted to let me add those Ghazals which are composed by K V Mahadevan. Usually musicians wouldn’t happy to do so.

Don’t you want to watch the film immediately to listen to those classics that are treasured for over 40 years? The film is in theaters already!
