Late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and film star, Nandamuri Tarak Rama Rao, more popularly known as NTR.

Actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna has taken up the responsibility of making a biopic on his father, yesteryear legendary actor N.T.Rama Rao and the film has been titled NTR. The biopic is being directed by Teja and will have Nandamuri Balakrishna playing the titular role, indicating that we will see the life of the iconic actor’s life till the time he became the Chief Minister of the then Andhra Pradesh.

There have been a lot of speculations around the cast of the film, specially the female lead actors. It was being reported that Nayantara could be playing an important role in the film and Bollywood actor Vidya Balan could be roped in to play another pivotal role.

Latest reports say that Kajal Aggarwal will be playing the late chief minister of Tamil Nadu and actor, J Jayalalitha. Both NTR and Jayalalitha shared screen space in several movies such as Chikkadu Dorakadu, Alibaba 40 Dongalu and Gandikota Rahasyam, and had been political counterparts as well. Therefore, it is evident that Kajal will have a major role to play in the film.

The makers kickstarted the project by shooting some popular scenes from ‘Daana Veera Soora Karna’. While the shooting is progressing at a rapid pace, reports were doing the rounds that actress Kajal Aggarwal has been cast as legendary actress J Jayalalithaa in the biopic. However, Kajal has now denied the news and clarified that she is not part of the project.

Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Induri are co-producing the film along with Balakrishna under the NBK Films banner. The principal shooting of the film, which has music by MM Keeravani, will begin on May 5 in a specially constructed set in Hyderabad.

The biopic will be made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi since NTR was a popular figure across India in films and political circles.
