Recently, there have been reports of Aamir Khan exiting the astronaut Rakesh Sharma’s biopic, Salute, was doing the rounds and had got us excited till fresh reports of him walking out of the biopic made headlines. And now as if to uplift our moods, there are emerging reports that Shah Rukh Khan has been approached to play the role of the first Indian astronaut to go to space in the biopic.
The casting for the biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma, titled ‘ Salute’, has been making waves for a long time. It gained traction after reports hinted at Shah Rukh Khan bagging the part. Subsequently, it was rumoured that Priyanka Chopra would be the lead female actor.
However, according to recent reports, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s name has emerged as one of the credible stars that could fit the requirements of the character. Apparently, the ‘Kurbaan’ actor isn’t ready to get onboard.
“There are several offers, roles and films discussed with actors. Not all of these discussions materialise into films on the big screen. And not all of them really constitute as offers on the table. Salute is surely not on the menu for Kareena,” a source was quoted as telling the publication.
Salute, directed by Mahesh Mathai, will tell the story of Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to travel into space. Buzz is that the film will go on floors either in December this year or early next year.
