Legal notices were served by the Election Commission on Thursday on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao, seeking an explanation within 48 hours from them regarding their “wilful violation of the model code of conduct” in the MLC polls.
EC principal secretary K. Ajaya Kumar stated in the notice: “You as Chief Minister of Telangana addressed a meeting organised to admit Congress party leaders from Khammam district into the TRS on November 28 at your official camp office and announced that Khammam district would be developed on par with Godavari districts of AP and that Khammam district would reap benefits from the unification of Rajiv Sagar and Indira Sagar. The above mentioned conduct on your part amounts to willful and intentional violation of the provisions of the model code of conduct which interalia prohibit such meetings in your official camp office.”
