Malayalam super star Mammootty will be essaying the role of YS Rajasekhar Reddy, Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, in the biopic Yatra. Mammootty will begin shooting for the film, which will focus on the famous ‘Padayatra’ undertaken by the late YSR in 2004, in June.
Confirming the news, director Mahi V Raghav says, “Yes, Mammootty sir has agreed to do the lead role. The film will be made on a lavish scale and a lot of homework will go into it. I’ll be meeting Mammootty sir soon and we will work on the characterisation together.”
According to latest reports, Keerthy Suresh going to be a part of another biopic film? Well, probably yes. She has been approached to play YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s daughter-in-law and actress Nayanthara has also been approached to play his on-screen wife while the role of his son, YS Jaganmohan Reddy is yet to be decided.YS Bharati in the upcoming biopic in Telugu called ‘Yatra’ which is based on the life of late Andhra CM.
The film will be made in Telugu and is going to be helmed by Mahi Raghav. Confirming the good news, the filmmaker said that he will soon be discussing characterisation with the superstar.

Interestingly, the film will revolve around YSR’s ‘padyatra’ and will be shot on a grand scale. Previously, it was rumoured that Suriya would play YSR’s son in the biopic but this is not confirmed. Reacting to the rumour, Mahi Raghav said that nothing has been finalised yet.
The film might go on floors in June this year and it will be slated to January 2019 release.
