Actress Kritika Choudhary, 23, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in suburban Andheri on Monday, police said. Police suspect it to be a case of murder, an investigating official said.
According to the police, her room was locked from outside. A police officer said, “We are investigating. The door was locked from outside.”
Police found her body in a decomposed state and the air-conditioner of the room was on.
A police officer said, “The AC of the room was on so that smell could not come out soon. We believe she was murdered three to four days ago.”
Police have filed an Accidental Death Report and more details in the case are awaited.
After police investigation pointed to foul play when struggling actress Kritika Choudhary was found dead in her flat on 12 June, there have been no new developments in the news.
The police have found that Kritika was into drugs and would buy banned substances, particularly methamphetamine, also known MD or Meow Meow, from the two men, who are suspected to be peddlers.
“She was in touch with the drug traffickers of the area and we suspect that even she was used as a carrier. She was also into arranging parties where she would arrange for MD,” said an officer from Amboli police station.
“She was in touch with the drug traffickers of the area and we suspect that even she was used as a carrier. She was also into arranging parties where she would arrange for MD,” said an officer from Amboli police as quoted by Mumbai Mirror. Their sources reportedly say that Kritika, whose acting career wasn’t going well, owed a lot of money to these drug peddlers. Apparently, these drug peddlers warned the actress. As she had no work, she couldn’t pay them any money and, hence, there were frequent fights between her and peddlers. The police suspect she was murdered by the two peddlers after one such fight.
The sources mentioned that these two men had visited Chaudhary’s place a day after she was killed. “They asked the on-duty watchman if Kritika was at home. The watchman tried to call her but her phone was unreachable. He then escorted the duo to her apartment and found the door had been latched from outside,” quoted a source. Senior Inspector Bharat Gaikwad of Amboli police station said, “All angles including drugs are being probed. The accused will be nabbed soon.”
The police are also speaking to several model coordinators whose numbers were found on Kritika’s phone. Her husband Vijay Dwivedi, who was on the run for a long time, was arrested last week in connection with multiple cheating cases and suspicion of playing a role in the murder.
