Madhur Bhandarkar is moving out from ‘Fashion’, ‘Page 3’ and ‘Calendar Girls’. His realistic show biz feminine movies were so good but it’s just got a little too much of them, haven’t they? The film maker felt so too. May be that’s why he is moving on to a hard hitting Political drama. ‘Main, Indu’ is his next.
The film is all about the 21 months of emergency (from June 25, 1975 to March 21, 1977) in the country. A lot of voices are audible saying that it is a story from Indira Gandhi’s perspective. But some of the crew members say that it has nothing to do with the late Indira Gandhi or any other person. It is a fictional character of a stammering female poet who rebels against the system.
As a part of his research, Madhur met BJP leader LK Advani, political writers like Tavleen Singh, Coomi Kapoor and Kuldeep Nayyar and met a lot of communist people and also victims of that situation it seems. We are more than waiting to get you more updates as soon as we sneak in.
