His real name was Kalaiselvan and he did his schooling up to standard X at R C Higher Secondary School and Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Melur. After that he was admitted for standard XI in a private school in Tiruppathur in Sivaganga district. he escaped from the school within a month to Chennai to pursue a career in acting. But he discontinued his education and went to work in the film industry, in which he joined hands with Kasthuri Raja. Despite various attempts, the couple could not meet the national-award winning actor, said the petitioners.
They further said Kathiresan, who was working as TNSTC conductor, attained superannuation recently. Though there are two other children, they are unable to manage their medical and other expenses.
