Noted Malayalam filmmaker-scriptwriter TA Razaq passed away in Kochi yesterday (August 15). He was 58. Razaq was reportedly undergoing treatment related to liver-related ailment at a private hospital, where he breathed his last at a private hospital in Kochi on Monday night. His mortal remains were kept at Moyinkutty Vaidyar Memorial Hall in Kondotty on Aug. 16 and was buried at 11 a.m. at Juma Masjid on Tuesday.
Razaq entered tinsel town as an assistant director through the movie Dhwani in 1987. He later shifted to script-writing and went on to create some of the memorable movies such as Kanakinavu, Ghazal, Perumazhakalam, Aayirathil Oruvan and Thalolam to name a few.
He had won State awards for best story and screenplay for Kanakinavu directed by renowned director Sibi Malayil in 1997. The film had also bagged the National Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration.
Razaq’s brother T.A. Shahid, scriptwriter, had died in 2012.
T. A. Razzaq (25 April 1958 – 15 August 2016) was born to T.A.Bappu & Vazhayil Khadeeja.He is an Indian screenwriter in Malayalam movies. His younger brother, T. A. Shahid, was also a screenwriter who wrote scripts for successful films such as Balettan and Rajamanikyam.
