Vijay Deverakonda, one of the celebrated actors in recent times in Tollywood, will be making his Tamil debut with director Anand Shankar’s upcoming film. Actress Mehreen Pirzada has been signed on as the female lead, director Anand Shankar’s (known for helming the sci-fi action thriller Iru Mugan starring Chiyaan Vikram and Nayanthara).

Mehreen made her Tamil debut with director Suseenthiran’s Nenjil Thunivirundhal starring Sundeep Kishan.

The project was officially launched today morning in Hyderabad with a formal pooja ceremony in Ramanaidu Studios, followed by a few customary shots to flag off the film. “The makers are planning to conduct a separate launch event for the movie in Tamil too since it marks the debut of Vijay Deverakonda there. The principal shooting for the film will kickstart towards the end of March.”

Mehreen said, “It’s amazing to work the current sensation. He’s the heartthrob of Tollywood right now. I call him Arjun Reddy. Two months back, we both shot for a Holi song for the Telangana government. That’s when I got an opportunity to work with Vijay for the first time. The song was directed by Vamshi Paidipally. We shared a good rapport on sets and I was also thinking that if I get a feature film opposite him, it would be great. I’m really glad that I’m working with him in a movie, which also marks his Tamil debut. I’m happy to be part of this lovely project which is bankrolled by a prestigious production house like Studio Green. I hope it will be a proper re-entry for me into Tamil industry after Nenjil Thunivirunthaal (laughs).”

According to sources, Anand Shankar has roped in a huge ensemble cast for his film. Veteran actors Sathyaraj and Nasser are part of the supporting cast.

The film, which is produced by Studio Green’s KE Gnanavel Raja, will be made inTamil and Telugu simultaneously.
