Talking about his latest release, Mohan Babu says, “Just like all music is but permutation and combinations of the basic notes Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Da Ni Sa, all stories are retellings of tales already told. Novelty is in the screenplay, how they are told,” he decrees. Take the film, Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu — a remake of a Marathi film, for which he acquired the rights two years ago. Yet the character sketch of the central role turned out to be an extension of the role he played 23 years ago. He played a husband caught between two wives in the 1992 film Allari Mogudu, and he is doing the same again with the same leading ladies Ramya Krishna and Meena playing his wives.
Directed by Sreenivas Reddy, Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu, produced by Vishnu Manchu under Twenty Four Frames Factory, releases today.
