Starting with 1984’s Poochakkoru Mookkuthi, Mohan Lal and Priyadarshan’s duo gave us many memorable movies. Ooty has always been a magical place in their films. They’ve showed us the hill station in a very different angle each time and after all these years, Mohan Lal wants to give the place a tribute. So, he decided to recreate the scene he did with Lizy in Thalavattam in 30 years ago (1986) for his upcoming film Oppam with Baby Meenakshi.

Talking about his director Priyadarshan said, ‘It’s been 22 years since we shot a movie together in Ooty. The last movie we filmed here was Minnaram in 1994. We have great memories of Ooty where we shot films such as Kilukkam, Chitram and Mithunam. In fact, all our films shot in the hill station were super hits. So it’s been our lucky place. Lal took me to School Manth, the location where we shot our first scene in Ooty. It was for the song ‘Pon Veene‘ from Thalavattam, 30 years ago. We recreated the frame in the exact location using the same lens with which we filmed that song. All of us have changed but those trees and slopes remain the same’.

Mohan Lal is giving us a new reason everyday to wait for ‘Oppam’. Did we tell you it is going to be an Onam release? Stay tuned for more updates. Let us know your views in comments below.
