Remember Minjur Gopi? The assistant director/ writer, who was in the news alleging that directors AR Murugadoss and Pa Ranjith have copied his scripts for their Kaththi and Madras is back in news.
The film will also feature Vignesh and Ramesh, the boys who acted in Kaaka Muttai, in crucial supporting roles. Sunu Lakshmi, who has acted in films like Sengathu Bhoomiyile and Touring Talkies, and Ramachandran of Sathuranka Vettai fame are also part of the cast. The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Om Prakash, National Award-winning art director Lalgudi Ilayaraja and stunt master Peter Hein. Gopi reveals that even though the film will have no songs, a leading music director is expected to come on board for composing the music.
The untitled film will see Nayan in the role of a collector and will revolve around a water problem. “I had approached Nayanthara by asking for a sit-down for a script narration. She liked the script and thanks to our producers, who are based in Mumbai, we immediately went on the floor,” says Gopi, who has finished shooting the first schedule of film on the outskirts of Chennai.
Given that Kaththi too revolved around a water problem, he clarifies that this one is different. “When it comes to water, there are various dimensions to the problem. They can be social or political, and my film will deal with the political side of an issue that has national ramifications,” he elaborates.
Meanwhile, Gopi is also simultaneously busy with the pre-production work of his next film that will revolve around the boxing culture in north Chennai.
Nayan’s ‘Babu Bangaram’ is slated for release on August 12. Her ‘Iru Mugan’ and ‘Kashmora’ are also set for release. She has another 2 films on sets.
