Days after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena asked Pakistani actors to leave India, Pakistani distributors have decided not to release MS Dhoni biopic, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.
The biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, that stars Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead, will hit theatres in India on September 30.
Pakistan-based distribution company IMGC Global Entertainment was initially supposed to release MS Dhoni The Untold Story in Pakistan, but looks like that’s not happening given the current India-Pakistan scenario.
Pakistan is the third highest overseas market for Bollywood and the ban will affect the box office of MS Dhoni biopic. The film has not been featured on the to-release list of film theatres in the country.
The Uri attack led to MNS threatening the Pakistani artistes Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and others to leave the country within 48 hours. They have also been protesting against Karan Johar’s upcoming flick ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ that stars Fawad and Raees that stars Mahira.
A petition was also filed at the Lahore High Court on September 23, which sought a ban on Indian films until the Kashmir issue is resolved. The PIL was filed by lawyer Azhar Saddique and mentioned showing Bollywood movies in Pakistan will “hurt sentiments of the people in Pakistan and Kashmir”.
On Tuesday, MNS said all Pakistani actors, including Fawad Khan, have left India. MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’s team is yet to comment on the issue.
