Panchkula boy gets bravery award

Sharing is caring!

The memory of that April afternoon is still fresh in Dishant’s mind. A robber had wielded a knife on the neck of Dishant’s mother and was threatening to kill her. But before long, her son had managed to grab the weapon and raise an alarm.

On April 4, 2015, the robber had entered their house claiming to be an acquaintance of Dishant’s father.

“I was terrified, but we were able to raise an alarm. Neighbours gathered, and we were able to nab the accused, said Dishant’s mother, Archana Mehndiratta.

The family is currently in Delhi, where Dishant will also participate in the Republic Day parade.

Speaking over the phone from Delhi, Dishant said, “It was a wonderful moment to get the award from the Prime Minister. He congratulated all of us, and encouraged us to be brave and keep working hard. Unhone kaha, iss achievement ke baad rukna nai, bas aage badhte jana (He asked us not to stop after this achievement, but to keep scaling new heights).”
