Pentagon confirms explosion of US military base in Japan

The Pentagon on Sunday has confirmed that a huge explosion took place at the US military base in Japan though no causalities were reported. A video was posted on YouTube showcasing the explosion which occurred after mid night  at a building on a US army post, the Sagami Depot in the city of Sagamihara which is about 25 miles south-west of Tokyo.

It was later reported that the building that exploded was storing compressed nitrogen, oxygen, Freon and air.The walls of the concrete building were not damaged much but the windows, doors and roof tops have been damaged.

The fire has subsided and no danger of the fire spreading across other buildings has been reported. The fire department reported saying that initially the reason for fire was not known but later it was discovered that the building stored hazardous gases due to which the explosion took place.
