Lately, a lot of stars from the four south Indian film industries are being seen at important film functions of their colleagues across the border. For instance, most recently Puneeth Rajkumar was a guest at the audio launch of director Shankar’s film I, which has Vikram in the lead, while at a similar event for Puneeth’s last film Power***, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu was a special guest.
I producer Aascar Ravichandran says that he invited Puneeth for multiple reasons.”He’s one of the biggest stars from Karnataka. That apart, we had an international superstar in the form of Arnold Schwarzenegger as a special guest at the show. So, we also wanted the Indian film industry as a whole to be present to felicitate our guest,” he says. This isn’t the first time that a Kannada star was present at an audio launch in another industry .For Tamil star Suriya’s Singam 2, Kichcha Sudeep, who did the remake of Singam called Kempe Gowda, was one of the guests. The makers had then said, “Singam has become a profitable franchise across different industries. We wanted all the `Singams’ from different industries to be present together to launch the music of the sequel.” Ajay Devgn, who was seen in the Hindi remake, was also supposed to be at the event, but could not make it owing to bad weather.
Prabhu Dheva too had come up with a similar idea to celebrate his film Rowdy Rathore. At that time, Prabhu had invited Ravi Teja, Karthi and Sudeep to his Chennai residence for a party with his team before his film’s release, since they had all played the role in their respective industries.
