Late last night, reports surfaced that Karan Johar had become a single father to a pair of twins through surrogacy last month. Later, the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ director confirmed the news by offering a statement on his Twitter profile. Karan expressed his gratitude to the surrogate who helped fulfil his “lifelong dream” and that she will always remain in his prayers. The baby boy is named Yash after Karan’s father, and the girl will be called Roohi, a rearrangement of his mother’s name Hiroo.
Last night, news broke that KJo has become a dad. The babies were reportedly born on February 7 and their births were registered on Friday, according to Dr Padmaja Keskar, Executive Health Officer of the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation).
The director today took to Twitter to give his statement on the matter. He wrote, “I feel enormously blessed to be a parent to these pieces of my heart who were welcomed into this world with the help of the marvels of medical science,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the filmmaker’s close friend Shah Rukh Khan also expressed his joy. When he was asked about Karan becoming a father at the Mijwan Summer 2017 fashion show, he said, “It’s a personal moment. Let’s respect the privacy. Of course we all are very happy.”
