The investigation pertaining to the ‘minor girl rape case’ handled by the All Women Police has been handed over to the Sivaganga unit of the Crime Branch CID police on the orders of the Director-General of Police.After Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vandita Pandey completed her enquiry with the victim, corroborating her statement made before a Magistrate under Section 164 Cr PC for the purpose of identifying other accused in the case, Superintendent of Police M Durai recommended to the DGP that the case be transferred to the CB-CID.
According to sources, Ms. Pandey met the DGP and briefed him on the case. Hours after the DGP passed the order, the case was handed over to the CB-CID police here on Wednesday. A woman Inspector of Police has been appointed as investigating officer in the case, they added.Ms. Pandey has identified 18 more accused, who were at large, the sources said. Those named by the victim included two male doctors who performed abortion, an advocate and her maternal grandfather.The girl has also accused her aunt of forcing her into ‘prostitution’.
