2.0 is an upcoming Indian science fiction film written and directed by S. Shankar, co-written by B. Jeyamohan, and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah, founder of Lyca Productions. The movie serves as a sequel to the 2010 Tamil film Enthiran, and features Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. The film will be shot simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi.
The film, that was supposed to release on Diwali this year, was pushed to next year due to pending VFX work. Much to everyone’s disappointment, it looks like the makers have once again postponed 2.0 to April 13, 2018. This comes after Akshay Kumar on Sunday announced the release date of his forthcoming film Padman, which is hitting the screens on January 26, 2018.
The delay in the VFX works is said to be the reason behind the postponement of 2.0. Being made on a mammoth budget of Rs 400 crore, the makers aim to make the Rajinikanth-starrer a landmark movie in Indian film industry.
Recently, 2.0 had a massive audio launch at Burj Park in Dubai. The highlight of the event is AR Rahman’s live performance. It must be noted that the makers spent a lavish amount of Rs 12 crore for the audio launch.
