Films in Tamil Nadu face quite a lot of problems with communal disputes. It is nothing new for Kollywood. Many films of Kamal Haasan have faced religious provocations. Now that latest film falling to prey is Rajinikanth’s film Tippu Sultan which is facing an opposition from Hindu Munnani. Just a few days back, reports kindled up that a Bangalore based business tycoon and film producer has plans to approach Superstar Rajinikanth to play the lead role in the biopic on Mysore King Tippu Sultan and that he wants to make the film on a mega budget. There has been no official announcement yet about the businessman approaching Rajini to offer the film and Rajini gave a nod or not.
Even the nothing has been confirmed about the project, Ramagopalan, the founder of Hindu Munnani has already stated an opinion against it. The senior right wing leader has insisted that no Tamil film actor should accept an offer to act as Tippu Sultan, as the warrior king was responsible for the mass displacement and killing of Tamils and Hindus. Ramagopalan further added that if at all the movie on Tippu Sultan is made, it would not be allowed to release or screened in Tamil Nadu.
