Brother of ‘Sankarabharanam’ fame J. V. Somayajulu, and Nandi Natakotsavam Life Achievement Award recipient J V Ramana Murthi took his last breath in a hospital in Hyderabad two days ago (22nd June 2016). He was born on 20 May 1933 in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram district. He was a science graduate and used to work as a lecturer before entering theater and films.

He holds a record of staging Gurajada‘s ‘Kanyashulakam’ for more than 1,000 times and earning encomiums for the play that he directed. He entered film industry through the film MLA directed by K B Tilak in 1957. Since then he acted in more than 150 films for various characters. He was a part of memorable film and known for the characters he played such as, Gorintaku. Siri Siri Muvva, Siri Vennela, Karthavyam, Shankar dada Zindabad, etc.

His elder brother J V Somayajulu died in 2004 at the age of 75.
