India’s hopes at the ongoing French Open Super Series ended after Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu and Swiss Open champion HS Prannoy suffered a straight-games defeat at the hands of their respective opponents here on Thursday.
After crashing out of the Denmark Open Super Series in the second round, Sindhu has now put yet another flop show by going down in the second round of the French Open after losing to China’s He Bingjiao 20-22, 17-21.
Although Sindhu gave a tough fight to her Chinese opponent in the first game, she had to play the catch-up game in the second one before losing it 17-21 in a match that lasted 41 minutes.
This was Sindhu’s second early exit from a BWF Super Series tournament following her success in Rio.
Sindhu is India’s first woman Silver medallist in the Olympics but her performances at the BWF Super Series have been rusty.
