Samantha Akkineni’s ‘U Turn’ remake shoot begins in february

Actress Samantha Akkineni will star in the Tamil and Telugu remakes of Kannada mystery thriller film “U-Turn”, which was remade in Malayalam in 2017.

The original Kannada film featured Shraddha Srinath, Radhika Chetan, Dileep Raj and Roger Narayan, and was directed by Pawan Kumar.

Samantha on Wednesday tweeted: “2018. Everything I want! Shoot begins in February for Pawan Films’ ‘U-Turn’ Tamil and Telugu… Thank you always for your support.”

In early 2017, Samantha watched the film in a private screening in Bengaluru and she immediately expressed her interest to be part of its remake in Tamil and Telugu. However, the project didn’t materialise in the following months and rumours made the rounds that Samantha was replaced by Nithya Menen. A few months later, there were reports that Nayanthara might be part of the project.

The film revolves around the death of motorists who break a traffic rule at a particular flyover in Bangaluru and subsequent pinning down of the culprit by an intern journalist and police inspector duo.

He told Deccan Chronicle, “The regular shooting will commence from January next year. The pre-production work is currently underway. Since Samantha is part of the project, we’re planning to make it big,” he said.
