The hit Bollywood film 2 States starring Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, is all set to be remade in Telugu. The film that is based on a popular novel by Chetan Bhagat, is being produced by Abhishek Nama of Abhishek Pictures, who has confirmed that he has got the remake rights.
It is reported that several filmmakers wanted to remake 2 States in Telugu and had approached Karan Johar to bag its remake rights. But the Bollywood filmmaker had declined over some unknown reasons. Abhishek Nama of Abhishek Pictures, however, managed to acquire the rights of the Hindi film and he has reportedly shelled out a hefty sum of Rs 55 lakh for the rights.
Abhishek has confirmed the news and also mentioned he is all set to introduce VV Vinayak’s apprentice Venkat Kuchem as an independent director for this one, as per reports on a leading portal. And, the producer thinks, Samantha and Naga Chaitanya are perfect for this role “Samantha is a Malayali and Naga Chaitanya is a Telugu boy, so the subject suits them and their real life relationship will add glamour to it if they sign this film,” revealed a source as saying.
Apparently, director VV Vinayak will be helming this project. However, he is currently busy with Chiranjeevi’s ‘Khaidi No 150’, so it is uncertain when this remake will go on floors and whether this casting will be finalised.
