Ye Maaya Chesave was an important film for both Naga Chaitanya and Samantha. Directed by ace filmmaker Gautham Menon, the film is the Telugu version of Tamil film Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya.
It tells the complicated love story between Karthik (Naga Chaitanya), an assistant director and Jessie (Samantha), a Malayali Christian. Unlike the Tamil version, which was declared a blockbuster after a week’s time, Ye Maya Chesave opened to unanimous positive response from Telugu people and earned a cult status over the years.
Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has written a heartfelt note as her debut Telugu film Ye Maaya Chesave opened in theatres on this day seven years ago. She said that she is in a happy space right now and it took seven for her to get there, calling it a a very difficult thing to achieve.
“It’s been 7 years and I am in a talking mood. So like any rags to riches story, I have had my fair share of hardships, insecurities, failure, rejection, pain, sadness, success, fame and wealth. But that does not mean I became happier as I became more successful. Oh happiness isn’t so simple,” she said in a statement that she shared on her Twitter page.
After years of courtship, actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha got engaged last month amid the presence of superstar Nagarjuna, wife Amala Akkineni, younger son Akhil Akkineni, and Shreya Bhupal.
While there isn’t any confirmation regarding their marriage, Naga Chaitanya went on the record saying that it is likely to happen this year.
Samantha is currently shooting for filmmaker Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s upcoming Tamil film, which has Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles. She will also be playing one of the leading ladies in actor Vijay’s next with director Atlee.
