Sangamithra: Khushbu Sundar lashes out at Shruti Haasan

Filmmaker Sundar C’s ambitious venture Sangamithra was officially launched at Cannes 2017, where the makers unveiled the first look posters. A week after walking the red carpet, Shruti Haasan walked out of the project citing that she didn’t receive a proper bound script.

Since her exit, the makers are having a tough time finalising the female lead, as Sangamithra revolves around the female protagonist. On Monday, Khushbu took potshots at Shruti Haasan and said she expects a “little more professionalism”.

Two months after Shruti walked out, the actress and politician Khushbu Sundar, defending her husband who is directing the movie, supposedly lashed out at Shruti Haasan for walking out of Sanghamitra. She posted a series of tweets, directing toward the popular actress without mentioning her name; although it was quite evident about to whom it was directed to. Khushbu tweeted, “A film like Sangamithra, which will be one of the costliest films ever made in India, cannot be made without proper planning. I see someone making weird comments about the script.”

Reported, the actress called Shruti unprofessional, she went on to add, “Work has started already. Unprofessionals do not know. For a movie like Sangamithra, shooting part is just 30 per cent and 70 per cent of the work is done before shooting.”

Taking a jab at Shruti, she wrote, “Blaming others for your own shortcomings sourgrapes? Expect a little more of professionalism from people who carry a legacy. Looking into your own mistakes and accepting it humbly helps you go a long way.”

Reports are doing the rounds that the makers are likely to finalise Hansika Motwani as the female lead.

Actors Jayam Ravi and Arya will have pivotal roles in Sangamithra. The first instalment of the two-part magnum opus will be ready for release by the end of 2018, director Sundar C revealed.

Academy Award-winning music composer AR Rahman and National Award-winning production designer Sabu Cyril are on board for the magnum opus. Sangamithra will be made on a budget of Rs 250 crore.
