There were reports of Arjun Kapoor playing the lead in the remake of Telugu hit film Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Arjun Reddy’. However the project finally landed with Shahid Kapoor.
It isn’t surprising that producers of the Hindi remake had to apparently dig deep into their pockets to acquire the rights. Rumours suggest that the makers have paid a hefty sum of Rs 7 crore. Usually, the makers have to shell around Rs 2-5 crores for acquiring rights of any particular movie.
Shahid Kapoor took to Twitter to share the news and wrote, “Team ARJUN REDDY is READY !!Here we go. Wish us luck guys. @imvangasandeep @MuradKhetani @ashwinvarde.”
A source associated with the project revealed, “Several filmmakers were trying to bag the film’s remake rights. Since it was a blockbuster, the project’s adaptation is highly anticipated. Ashwin Varde and Murad Khetani shelled out a cool Rs 7 crore to the producer for the Hindi version.”
The hunt for the female lead in the movie is reportedly on and the makers are looking for a fresh face to be cast opposite Shahid Kapoor. The Hindi adaptation will be helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, A source was quoted as saying, “The film is scheduled to go on the floors in July.
While the locations are yet to be finalised, the plan is to shoot in India as well as abroad.” In the original film, Shalini Pandey played the female lead opposite Vijay.
