Sonam Kapoor-alia Bhatt slams Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on his homosexuality Satement

Humanitarian and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has landed himself in a controversy after expressing his opinion on homosexuality at an event in Delhi.

Sonam Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have expressed their disapproval over spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s recent comments on homosexuality. The actors took to Twitter to share how ‘irresponsible’ his comments were.

At the Jawaharlal Nehru University, when a student asked Sri Sri as to how he should handle the way his friends and family treated him for his sexual orientation, the spiritual leader said, “You don’t think you are sick or something is wrong with you. If you stand up, nobody can insult you, but…if you feel bad about yourself, nobody can make you feel better.”

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s words at the lecture, as per a scroll.in report, were: “If you stand up, nobody can insult you, but if you feel bad about yourself, nobody can make you feel better. This is your tendency now…just acknowledge it, accept it, and know that this tendency is not a permanent thing. It may change. I’ve seen many men who were gay later turn into heterosexuals, and there are those who are normal, who are called straight people, end up being gay later in life.”

Actress  Sonam Kapoor, who took to social media to express her anger and views. In a series of tweets she slammed the spiritual guru and also explained what she understood of homosexuality. Check out her tweets here:

Several people have criticised his comments on social media and Sonam and Alia are two of them. Sonam said “Homosexuality is not a ‘tendency’ it’s something you are born as and is absolutely NORMAL. To tell someone you can change is irresponsible.” She added: “WTF is wrong with god men, if you want to learn something about Hinduism and culture it’s better to follow @HindolSengupta & @devduttmyth.”

Sonam Kapoor  last seen in Ram Madhvani’s Neerja, for which she won a Special Mention National Award. She is currentl ymaking Veere Di Wedding (which is produced by her sister Rhea Kapoor) and she will also star in Akshay Kumar’s Padman, which is slated for 2018 release.
