Sunny Leone is a closet artist and has been one for over a decade now. She says she paints for herself and gifts them to people who like her work, much like Salman Khan does. The actress started painting when her mother died and since then has been regularly painting whenever she gets the time. While the actress has over 18 paintings to her name, she says she’s not ready for an exhibition yet as she feels she’s too emotionally attached to her work.
While Sunny started painting as an outlet for expressing her pent-up emotions, today it has become one of her passions. “I started painting because it was my emotional outlet and now, I paint because I love it. If you see all the pieces together you can see my emotional transition through the years. I usually paint when I’m in Los Angeles. I want to paint in Mumbai, but I’m having a hard time finding the things I need and the size of canvases I like. I paint large, abstract acrylic paintings. I paint on a whim, so if I have everything available, I do it.”
She adds that an exhibition could happen when she is emotionally stronger. “I have never thought of holding an exhibition of my paintings because I am not confident about them. Most of them have so many feelings behind them that I’m not sure how to let them go. A lot of the paintings hold emotional significance for her.”
