Rajinikanth’s 2.0 co-star Amy Jackson has found her Ticket to Hollywood as the superhero show, ‘Supergirl’ on an American channel gets a Bollywood twist.
On cloud nine, Amy Jackson broke the big news on Twitter saying, “Finally! so now you know what I have been getting up to in Canada over the past couple of weeks.”
According to TVLine, the new season of the CW series will introduce the character of Saturn Girl, a kind, smart and strong-willed hero who uses her telekinetic ability to help those in need. Also known as Imra Ardeen, Saturn Girl was born on Titan, one of Saturn’s moons, and arrives on Earth to help Kara (Melissa Benoist) battle one of her biggest threats. The recurring role will be played by Amy Jackson.
In the comics, Saturn Girl is a founding member of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 30th Century. She is married to Legion co-founder Lightning Lad and mother to twins Graym Ranzz and Garridan Ranzz. Created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino, Saturn Girl first appeared in 1958’s Adventure Comics #247.
“Supergirl” Season 3 will serve as the U.S. debut for British-born Bollywood star Jackson. According to Deadline, the 25-year-old actress started her career as a model and has since become one of India’s most prominent leading ladies. Jackson’s next Bollywood movie, “2.0” — the sequel to India’s Box Office smash, “Robot” —is set for release on Jan. 25, 2018.
Supergirl will also see Katie McGrath get bumped up to a series regular as Lena Luthor, Floriana Lima’s Maggie Sawyer getting downgraded to a recurring status, Calista Flockhart briefly returning as Cat Grant, Robert DuBois starring as Bloodsport, and Odette Annable appearing as Reign. Jackson joins Heroes and Agents of SHIELD star Adrain Pasdar, Alias actor Carl Lumbly, Jane the Virgin star Yael Grobglas, and Elysium standout Emma Tremblay, all of whom are hopping aboard the show as new characters.
“Supergirl” Season 3 premieres on Monday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
